Der perfekte Soundtrack einer prägenden Zeit

In einer Zeit voller Zwiespalt, Unsicherheit, Mental Health Schwierigkeiten und jugendlichen Belastungen wie Liebeskummer, trifft das Album bei mir einen ganz bestimmten Nerv. Jeder Song ist auf seine Art sehr gut, keiner gibt mir das Gefühl ihn skippen zu wollen. Ein erstes Indiz für 5 Sterne. Das Album ist kein Feel Good Album, es ist keine Biografie, aber es ist eine Zusammenfassung des Lebens. Von Tiefpunkten wie Depressionen bis zum Aufatmen der Überwindung einer Krebserkrankung durchlebt man mit dem Album ein emotionales Auf und Ab. Emotionen zu denen man jeweils auch Zugänge finden kann. Alles sehr passend aufgearbeitet. Lieder, bei denen man schreien möchte, andere, bei den die Tränen kommen, aber auch welche ("Lass es Rosen für mich regnen"), bei denen man fast zum Tanzen auf offener Straße tendiert. Die Platte ist nach dem ersten zwar von trauriger Stimmung geprägt, mit der Zeit transformiert dieses Gefühl aber zu Verständnis und Dankbarkeit demgegenüber, dass Cas es schafft, die weit gefächerte Trauer des Lebens aufzuarbeiten.
Die Feature-Gäste der Platte sind sehr passend und ergänzen das Gesamtwerk sehr schön. Es wird eine super künstlerische Bandbreite abgedeckt und viele Sparten bedient. Müsste ich persönlich Kritik an der Platte ausüben, so würde ich diese höchstwahrscheinlich an der vielen Single-Auskopplungen im Voraus festmachen, die mir persönlich zu viele waren. Abgesehen davon fallen mir aber wenig bis gar keine Kritikpunkte ein. Definitiv schon jetzt eines meiner Lieblingsalben in 2022.

An album filled with painful screams for hope in the face of basically everything out on the planet right now. Alles war schön und nichts tat weh may seem like a relative step back from the heavy experimentalism of Lang lebe der Tod, but once you dig into the very Post-Rock meets Trap and Indie-Pop with traces of Folk instrumentation and how it actually interacts with the lyrics by Casper the more it actually makes sense overall. Yearning for hope when it is obvious that probably nothing will happen often comes with a lot of pathos when its translated into music, and on here it's a lot of bombastic hooks and instrumentations that sputter out into fragile grooves, loud and screaming performances that go back to being timid and ashamed, it's pure insecurity in musical form. Tales about the last small towns of Germany that got completely forgotten by people and politics alike, a request for immortality that won't happen, toxic relationships where you hope that maybe this time it will be different, hoping that one of your best friends can beat leukemia even though it's clear that he won't and you acting like a weirdo through it all, this album goes through a lot of really, really, really uncomfortable emotions. He's weaving a lot of different stories together all under the sign of probably unattainable optimism, and his plainspoken, observational approach is just really cutting and emotional. All working together in tandem.

Alles war schön is an evil, deceptive album, because behind all the bombast and lush arrangements and big hooks actually lays one of the most bleak and sad projects that Casper has ever put out. But, as said in the beginning of the album and during the last seconds, it's important to keep the optimism going, that there is always something and someone to fight for, to keep names up and do what's right. When I die I hope I can say "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt" as well, in retrospect when I look back on everything that happened during it. You just gotta keep that hope inside you and don't let it die. As hard as it is sometimes.
