Set up Apple Cash

Do any of the following:

  • Open the Wallet app, tap the AppleCash card, then tap Set Up Now.

  • Go to Settings

  • In Messages, send or accept a payment.

Make purchases with Apple Cash

You can use AppleCash at locations that accept Visa and support ApplePay:

Some stores may require a PIN to complete transactions with AppleCash.

AppleCash doesn’t require a PIN because every payment is authenticated by FaceID, TouchID, or a secure passcode. However, some terminals may still require you to enter a four-digit code to complete the transaction. To see your PIN, tap

Send or request payments with Apple Cash

  1. Tap the AppleCash card, then tap Send or Request.

  2. Enter a recipient or choose a recent contact, then tap Next.

  3. Enter the amount, then tap Send or Request.

  5. If you’re sending a payment, review the information, then authenticate with FaceID, TouchID, or your passcode.

You can also manage Apple Cash Family, and more.

  • Notifications: Turn notifications on or off.

  • AppleCash and sending and receiving payments through ApplePay are services provided by Green Dot Bank, member FDIC.

    When you set up Apple Cash you can send and receive money in Messages or Wallet, or make purchases using Apple Pay.1

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
    2. Scroll down and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
    3. Turn Apple Cash on.
    4. Under Payment Cards, tap Apple Cash.
    5. Tap Continue, then follow the instructions on your screen.

    When someone sends you money, it's automatically and securely kept on your Apple Cash card. Your new Apple Cash card can be found in the Wallet app.

    If you want to set up Apple Cash for a family member that's under 18 years old, learn how to set up Apple Cash Family. If you're under 18 years old, your Family Sharing organizer can set up Apple Cash for you with Apple Cash Family.

    If you turn off Apple Cash for any one device, you can still use Apple Cash on other devices where you’re signed in with your Apple ID.

    • There’s no fee to send, receive, or request money using Apple Cash.
    • Setting up Apple Cash doesn't affect your credit and won’t be impacted by any credit freezes.
    • To protect your account, you might be asked to verify your identity at certain points when using Apple Cash. If you don't want to provide this information, you won't be able to use the full functionality of Apple Cash. Learn how to verify your identity.

    1. Apple Cash services are provided by Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC. Learn more about the Terms and Conditions.
    2. You can't use person to person payments with Apple Cash for any business-related activities, such as operating a business or paying employees.
    3. Apple Card is issued by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch. Apple Card is available only in the United States.
