Best way to take notes on computer Reddit

I’ve always been taking them from hand since my freshman year and I just rewrote all my notes for my finals online and realized how much easier it is. I used google docs but I saw how easily it can get cluttered even just for my 2 classes I did this for.

What program do you use to take notes online? I’d like one where I can have a “folder” like thing for each subject and be able to have a new page for everyday. Thank you

I own goodnotes and notability. I prefer notability but use goodnotes on occasion. When typing up notes in classes where the professor speaks too fast to handwrite I use onenote on my PC. I'm honestly not a huge fan of the handwriting on the onenote app on ipad. Has anyone come up with a solution to integrate their handwritten notes to their PC since notability and goodnotes are not compatible? Thanks!

edit: Just letting you know because it seems that people misunderstood me. I'm fine with using pen and paper, but as an alternative what would you suggest. The very reason I'm asking is due to the lack of an effective alternative.

I am wondering as a Computer Science student entering my program this September 1st what note taking application should I utilize to succeed and be organized. What are some applications or systems do you utilize in order to take notes and keep track of everything? What do you use on the job?

What’s everyone’s preference? I’ve done paper notes so far, but may do notes on the computer for ease of access and just copy down from there when tests permit it.

Does anyone have a preference about how they take notes? I’ve always taken notes in my notebook or possibly printed out the notes and wrote on them. However, I have been seeing a lot of students use tablets to take their notes and I was wondering if anyone found that to be better than the “normal” way. If you do prefer to take notes on a tablet/laptop can you tell me why, and what you take the notes in (GoogleDocs, OneNote, etc). Thanks! I’m trying to find the most effective way to take notes for this upcoming semester.

I’ve recently started to learn coding through an online course but find myself more worried with writing down every single thing said in the video than actually absorbing content. It takes forever and I don’t really feel that I’ve learned anything at the end of the session. How can I take notes more effectively?

I am going into college next Fall, and I need to figure out how I am going to take notes. My options are using my Ultrabook laptop with touchscreen or handwriting them.

For the laptop, I will be able to effecitneily type what I need to type without worrying about being too slow. And with the touch screen, I will be able to draw graphs or formulas or anything else I need to as well. I also never took notes in High School because my handwriting is sloppy and I am simply not organized when it comes to notebooks.

For handwriting notes, I understand you will have less distractions and studies show that you remember the material better if you write it down for certain people. But for someone like me, I can't even guarantee that I'd take legible handwritten notes.

So if I can control myself and not go on the Internet during class - is there any reason to not use my ultrabook?
